BlackBerry outage might have been a PR car crash, but it may have helped improve road safety

At least there was an upside to the BlackBerry service outage – apparently drivers in some parts of the Middle East fond of using their phones while driving were, for the three days of the service outage, able to concentrate on the road instead of the content of a smart phone message, resulting in a dramatic reduction in traffic accidents. A recent survey suggests the same might be the case in the UK.
