Why staff cuts don’t have to be the answer

A recent survey from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development showed that two-thirds of companies believe they will have to cut jobs if the economy does not improve over the next 12 months. However, as most businesses are acutely aware, while reducing the payroll may be necessary, there can be negative ramifications; for example skills shortages, impact upon resourcing, damage to morale and so on.
