The results of the French presidential election were reported on Sunday evening, showing a decisive victory for Emmanuel Macron over far right opponent Marine LePen. Macron had been predicted to win the election by a significant margin, however in the wake of the Brexit referendum and US presidential election where results contradicted the polls, people on both sides of the channel were holding their breath to see who would be installed as the next president of France.
